February 18, 2022 Dear Members and Guests, I want to personally welcome everyone to the California Four Wheel Drive Association's 63rd annual Convention hosted by the North District being held in Visalia, California. The theme this year is "Where the Rubber Meets the Trail". There will be an exciting vehicle show, informative seminars, a chili cook off, coffee with the BOD, our Life Member Breakfast and our Presidential election along with other fun and exciting things to bring us all together. Some of the festivities will start on Friday and run through Saturday. The Hospitality Reception is something you should attend. This weekend will also be the last chance to purchase your raffle tickets for the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Altitude built by MetalCloak, loaded with a ton of sponsor donated parts. It might be a while before you see another "Nacho Orange" vehicle. You never know, you could be the winner and say, this is "nacho" jeep. There will also be a lot of other prizes to raffle off, such as a roof top tent, certificate for BFG tires, certificate for an Atlas transfer case, ARB front bumper and other things to take home and accessorize you rig with! I hope the lucky winning ticket that's drawn Saturday night will have the winner in the audience. To say this hasn't been an unpredictable two years with COVID, you would have to be stuck up in a mountain off-grid somewhere. Through this difficult time, many came forward and helped in our time of need. I would like to personally thank all of the volunteers who stepped up to help at all of the events over the last couple of years. Everyone who helped with the raffle vehicles for the past two years, and for this year's builder MetalCloak along with all the donated parts from our sponsors, it's been beyond my belief. It's an impressive showing of support for what we all hold close to our hearts, and that is the outdoors. I want to thank the entire Board of Directors, past and present, for their time and dedication to the Association. I can't forget all the delegates who volunteer to be the voice for their clubs and membership. Everything about Cal4Wheel revolves around those of us who volunteer. We are always looking for the next generation to take this on. With that said, there will be two people running for the position of President this year. Keep an open mind and make your choice wisely. Good luck to both that are running and I plan on being here to help Cal4Wheel anyway I can. On behalf of the Board of Directors and myself, we hope you have an enjoyable weekend getting together with old friends and making new ones along the way. We encourage you to make it to the events that will be held and if you can find the time attending some of the seminars may surprise you with what you may learn. Please attend the General Assembly if you can, so you can see what is going on and possibly become a volunteer and run for a Board position in the future. We appreciate your attendance and look forward to serving the Association for many years to come. Regards, ~

Welcome to the 2022 Convention celebrating 63 years of the California 4-Wheel Drive Association. What a blessing to be able to gather together again to see old friends and make new ones. This year's Convention is celebrating our trails, our favorite trails, our second favorite trails, and our multiple favorite trails. I hope you will enjoy perusing the Favorite Trail displays and maybe even plan a few excursions to somebody's favorite trail that you haven't tried before. California is an amazing State that offers 4-wheeling in forests, hills, rocks, desert, and sand. Different skills and different rig set-ups are necessary for each type of area and draw out the creative bug in all 4-wheelers. Visit the Vendor Show to learn of accessories and components that might feed that bug and compliment your rig. Enjoy viewing some of the creative and unique trail vehicles in the Vehicle Show. You might catch a glimpse of the 2022 Win-A-Jeep sitting out there. Tickets will be sold up until the Awards Banquet. It only takes one ticket to win ... maybe it will be yours. The winning ticket will be pulled and announced Saturday night after the Awards Banquet. Saturday also provides Seminars with interesting topics to learn from. Join the General Assembly meetings to learn more about the Association and its inner workings, issues that affect us, discussions of such, and decisions to make. Lots to do and see ... and EAT! New this year is a Chili Cook-off in the Vendor Show as well as hot dogs!! YUM!! A big thank you to all my committees for all their hard work. Please note that committees this year are statewide. Always nice to work together for our one Association. Many thanks to JEP Autoworks for sponsoring our Convention program this year. Enjoy our 63rd Convention Shirley Bramham 2022 Convention Chair

THE FOUR WHEELER'S CODE As members of the American public who operate four wheel drive vehicles to enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery of our mountains, valleys, deserts, forests, marshes and meadows, and all other back country areas of the nation, we will: Leave the land and its vegetation as we find it. Help preserve plant life and soil by limiting travel to established roads and trails. Avoid cutting switch backs and driving through moist meadows which will leave permanent scars. Protect the history of the nation by not disturbing old mining camps, ghost towns, diggings, or other historic or natural values. Respect the rights and property of other user groups such as miners, ranchers, fishermen, hunters and other recreationists. Conduct all trips in a safe-sane manner. Accept the responsibility of keeping the back country beautiful by packing out litter. Give everyone we meet the courtesy of the road as safety and courtesy are contagious. Observe the local history, the geology of the land and the ecology of the vegetation so that we may more fully appreciate the splendor of our national heritage. From Ca/4 Wheel Archives
