PRESIDENT S Welcome We re the California Four Wheel Drive Association Inc Since 1959 our non profit organization has actively promoted the advancement of vehicle oriented outdoor recreation Today the association represents over 8 000 members and 160 member clubs We are the largest organization of its type in California and represent owners of all makes and models of 4WD vehicles as well as non owners who support responsible vehicleoriented recreation Welcome to the 61st Convention I would like to welcome each one of you to Clovis Gateway to the Sierras The City of Clovis was named after Clovis M Cole by local railroad developer Marcus Pollasky who developed the San Joaquin Valley Railroad as an alternative route to market the grain raise in the area In the 1890 s Clovis was terminal for a lumber flume that traveled 42 miles from Shaver Lake to deliver timber harvested in the mountains east of Clovis Many of the early structures remain from this time in Old Town Clovis PURPOSE The charter of the Foundation is to acquire resources from public and private sources to develop programs supporting resource conservation public education four wheel drive vehicle driving safety and related areas CHARITABLE NON PROFIT The Foundation is registered in California and IRS certified as a 501 c 3 charity non profit corporation A copy of IRS Letter of Determination is available upon request BOARD OF TRUSTEES The Board of Trustees governs the Foundation It is made up of the president and the three vice presidents of the California Four Wheel Drive Association plus two Trustees at large one to five trustees representing businesses agencies or individuals who provide financial or in kind contributions to the Foundation WHAT WE DO The Foundation seeks grants to fund conservation and education projects related to fourwheel drive recreation throughout California Such projects include resource conservation public education four wheel drive vehicle driving safety and related areas We provide grants to Cal4Wheel member clubs and individuals to assist the goals of the Foundation 2 As Clovis is rich in western history Cal4wheel is rich in history and Convention is always a time to remember past It is also a time to remember and honor members we lost It is a time to look to the future a time to hear what the clubs and members want the association to be moving forward into the next year and beyond It has been an honor to serve the association over the last seven years as your president and I look forward to helping a new leader move us onward as we remember our mission and strive to fulfill it moving forward This weekend we will share much about our history and look forward to the future of family four wheeling Thank you for joining us for this special time Steve Egbert President 3

ETERNAL FOUR WHEELERS ETERNAL FOUR WHEELERS Steve Morris 1930 2019 Denny Londo Tierra Del Sol Member since 1960 Dana Holland Sacramento Jeepers Member since 1960 Steve Morris served as the first President and founding member of the California Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs Inc He assisted in the preparation of the Charter By Laws His love of the sport was apparent throughout his 60 plus years as a board member He bought his first Jeep in 1954 a Willys CJ2A and helped form the Sacramento Jeepers club in 1956 In 1966 he assisted in the organization of the Lake Tahoe Hi Lo s where he and other volunteers in the community adopted and maintained trails in the Tahoe National Forest Steve was a true pioneer of the Rubicon Trail participating at the beginning of the Jeepers Jamboree with Mark Smith and he didn t miss one since Steve was one of twelve people who purchased part of Rubicon Springs on the Rubicon Trail just three days before it was going to be taken over by the US Forest Service As a partial owner of Rubicon Springs his goal was to make the beauty of Rubicon Springs available for everyone to share He gave talks about the complete history of the Rubicon Trail dating back hundreds of years His son Rick Morris wrote a book Rubicon Springs and The Rubicon Trail A History in 2011 In the words of El Dorado County Parks Manager Vickie Sanders He was always kind and he would do anything I needed Steve devoted his entire life to helping people improving trails and supporting the off road community A truly generous man He was recognized as one of six Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame honorees on November 3 2019 at the South Point Hotel and Casino In Las Vegas 10 Pat Bashore Grass Valley Four Wheelers Member since 1991 Al Gallegos Kingsburg 4WD Club Member since 1971 Jon Bachelder Lake Tahoe Hi Lo s Member since 1999 11 Barton Bartman McMurray Four Wheel Drive Club of Fresno Member since 1993
